To attract more travellers to come visit, the Maldives has launched key destination marketing campaigns this year. One of these which is still ongoing saw the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) joining hands with TravelBag, which is one of the largest air and travel service providers in the world. This campaign which began in May 2023 is targeting travellers from the United Kingdom; it features the use of social media as well as print and online channels and will run up to April 2024. Such travellers are getting to enjoy holidays here once more at private island properties like Embudu Village where they can enjoy coastal bliss on a stay at a superior beach bungalow. Maldives getaways continue to be a major draw for those not only from the UK but around the world as well.
The MMPRC has also been actively holding travel roadshows and participating in travel fairs throughout the year, to broaden the nation’s reach in attracting tourists. In July, it held roadshows in the Indian cities of Lucknow, Jaipur, and Chandigarh and this was followed by participation at the NATAS travel fair in Singapore (August) and ITB China in Shanghai (September). In the first week of this month, the Maldives took part in the IFTM Top Resa in Paris; it will also be participating in ITB Asia in Singapore (25th to 27th October) and the World Travel Market in London (6th to 8th November) later this year. Such efforts are bearing fruit as well, with the country seeing an increasing number of arrivals in 2023.
