The tourism industry in the Maldives continues to thrive with the island nation welcoming more than 500,000 visitors in 2024.
According to the Maldives Ministry of Tourism, a total of 513, 377 tourists stepped foot in the Maldives, which constitutes a 13.9 percent increase from this time last year. A majority of these visitors are from China, with Chinese tourists making up 11.8 percent of the total arrivals for the year. Close behind is Russia, bringing in 10.2 percent of visitors.
This upward trend in tourism is reflective of the improvements made to accommodation and other services on the island over the past several years. The Maldives now has a wider distribution of idyllic hotels and resorts, like the Kuda Villingili, that provide necessary comforts and amenities for an enjoyable stay. As an island nation, the Maldives has things to do and see, many of which revolve around the lush beauty and scenic oceans of which there are plenty.
