The tourism industry in the Maldives has already seen a significant spike this year, with the island nation welcoming more than 500,000 visitors in 2024.
According to the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives, 513,377 tourists visited the Maldives, marking a 13.9% increase from the previous year. A majority of these visitors are from China, with Chinese tourists making up 11.8 percent of the total arrivals for the year. The second largest group were from Russia, constituting 10.2 percent of the arrivals.
This upward trend reflects the improvements made to accommodation and other services on the island over the past several years. There is now a wider distribution of idyllic hotels and Maldives beach villas, scattered across the island, like the Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas that provide necessary comforts and amenities for an enjoyable stay
