Maldives Tourism Poised for Record-Breaking Year After Global Accolades

Riding a wave of global recognition, the Maldives continues to shine as the world’s island paradise

The Maldives is on course for another milestone year in tourism, fuelled by international acclaim and rising arrival figures. The island nation recently secured the Best Beach Destination Award at the 2025 World Tourism Awards in Brussels and earned a spot among the Top 10 Countries for Food in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.

Data from the Ministry of Tourism shows more than 1.7 million visitors as of October 2025—a 10% increase from last year. With peak season approaching, the country is expected to meet its goal of 2.3 million arrivals by year’s end.

Hospitality leaders such as OBLU SELECT Sangeli Maldives exemplify the islands’ refined approach, offering curated experiences that reflect the Maldives’ balance of luxury and authenticity. This trend, seen across many luxury beach villas in Maldives, highlights a broader shift towards meaningful, experience-driven travel.
