Although the Maldives was open for international travellers since July 2020, it had major restrictions for Indian travellers. The main reason was that India was badly hit by the Delta variant of COVID 19 during the past few months.
However, the tourism authorities of the Maldives have now decided to welcome Indian tourists to the country with immediate effect. Every Maldives beach villa at resorts the likes of Niyama Maldives has already received booking confirmations from Indian holidaymakers, and the situation is the same for flight operators as well. Flights including IndiGo have already declared their flight schedules and have been getting a great response from Indian travellers. Once they land in the Male International Airport, it will be compulsory for all travellers to present a negative PCR test result report, and presentation of the vaccine certificates will also be made mandatory.
