The Maldives has welcomed over 1.3 million tourists so far in 2024, surpassing last year’s 1.2 million arrivals during the same period, according to the Tourism Ministry. China now leads as the top source market, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom. Interestingly, India, which dominated the tourist influx for the past three years, has dropped to sixth place, with only 77,326 Indian tourists visiting this year, a notable decrease from last year’s 209,198.
Tourists spend an average of 7.7 days enjoying the pristine beaches and world-class resorts, such as The Residence Maldives Dhigurah, a highly acclaimed luxury resort in Maldives. The government aims to reach 2 million arrivals by the year’s end, supported by the nation’s 62,740 available tourism beds. With its luxurious offerings and breathtaking scenery, the Maldives continues to be a premier destination for travellers worldwide.
