In the Maldives, tourist arrivals for 2024 have surpassed 728,000 visitors, marking a 13.1% increase from last year and a significant rise from 2022. Since January, the country has welcomed an average of 6,451 tourists daily, staying for around eight days each. In April’s first three weeks alone, Velana International Airport saw 124,946 arrivals, a 3.4% increase from the same period in 2023 and notably higher than in 2022.
These figures, released by the Ministry of Tourism, indicate a steady upward trend in tourism, with an average of 5,679 tourists arriving daily in April, staying approximately seven days. Such growth underscores the Maldives’ enduring appeal as a premier tourist destination, sustaining its position as a favoured getaway for travellers worldwide, with the best resorts in the Maldives being no small contributor – with partners like the Naladhu Private Island Maldives serving as great examples.
