Where heritage meets innovation — Melaka takes centre stage in shaping global tourism’s future
Malaysia will host the World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2025 in Melaka from 27 to 29 September. Organised by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) alongside Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and the Melaka State Government, the event carries the theme “Tourism & Sustainable Transformation.”
Recognised globally for its rich heritage and innovation, Melaka’s selection reflects its rising prominence as a sustainable tourism hub. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Melaka offers a compelling blend of culture, history, and modern tourism practices — qualities that will be on full display during the event.
More than 1,000 delegates, including global tourism leaders and media, are expected to attend. The event will allow Malaysia to showcase its sustainable tourism efforts and strengthen its global image.
During the conference, delegates will also have the opportunity to experience the region’s hospitality at modern Melaka resorts, such as the well-located PARKROYAL A’Famosa Melaka Resort, offering a modern retreat just a short distance from the city’s historic heart.
