Rising demand, shifting preferences, and a market on the move
The short-term vacation rental sector across the Middle East and Africa is showing strong momentum, with revenues anticipated to climb to nearly USD 8.7 billion by 2030. Recent industry data indicates steady expansion, driven by travellers seeking flexible stays and a growing preference for home-style accommodation. The market was valued at just over USD 4.1 billion in 2022 and is forecast to post close to a 10% annual growth rate through the end of the decade.
Homes remained the top-earning category in 2022, while apartments are expected to accelerate fastest in the coming years. South Africa is projected to experience the most significant growth within the region. Global platforms such as Airbnb, Booking Holdings, and Expedia continue to shape the competitive landscape, alongside emerging regional players like Staycae, which contribute to the evolving demand for short term rentals in Dubai.
This upward trend reflects broader global patterns, with North America and the Asia Pacific also showing strong performance.
