On February 28, Myanmar Railways plans to introduce new, air-conditioned DEMU train services, which will greatly enhance travel between important cities. The Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw (No 7/8) and Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw (No 27/28) routes will be served by the recently imported Japanese trains. The trip from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw will take roughly 5.5 hours, starting at 6 am and ending at 11:30 am. At noon, the return trip will depart from Nay Pyi Taw and arrive in Yangon at 5:30 p.m.
Trains on the Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw route leave at 6 am and return at 11 am and 5 pm. The Yangon-Mandalay route, with stops in Bago, Pyu, Toungoo, and Thazi, will take around 11 hours, offering an alternative for those staying at a Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon or any other Yangon hotel in Myanmar. Three days before departure, train tickets can be bought; the cost will depend on the route and travel class.
