Morocco’s ports have experienced a remarkable surge in summer travellers, welcoming over 1.3 million passengers in just two months, according to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. This impressive 16.5% surge from last year highlights Morocco’s growing appeal as a prime travel destination. European visitors make up the majority, drawn by summer holidays and Morocco’s seamless connectivity to key attractions. Ports, such as those serving popular routes like Tanger Med-Algeciras, are working at full capacity, supported by additional resources to manage the influx.
The weekend of August 3-4 alone saw 80,000 passengers and 20,000 vehicles arriving, prompting the ministry to enhance transport capacity and diversify routes. The Mediterranean’s busy crossing has sparked coordination between Moroccan and Spanish authorities, ensuring smooth operations. Travellers staying in the city can consider experiencing the charm of a luxury room in Marrakech, offered by the renowned riad hotel, La Maison Arabe. Authorities continue to encourage advance bookings as the season progresses.
