Namibia Offers Tourists Safe and Easy Entry – Country Looks to Surpass 2021 Arrivals

Since reopening its international borders, Namibia has been offering tourists easy entry as well as safe holidays. Those who have been fully vaccinated no longer must present a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test and need to just show a valid vaccination certificate. Travellers who are not fully vaccinated need to have a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of embarkation; the result can be uploaded on the Trusted Travel system adopted by African Union member states and the subsequent code that is generated can be used on arrival.

The country’s tourism industry has been getting back on track since 2021 and the encouraging results were made public last month. This was brought to light in July 2022, during the launch of the annual tourist arrival statistical report for 2021; according to Pohamba Shifeta, the Minister of Environment and Tourism of Namibia, foreign arrivals showed a 40.9% increase when compared to 2020. It’s hoped that the upward trend will continue with more travellers arriving this year. Apart from diverse experiences and attractions, visitors can also find safe accommodation including at hotels in Windhoek, the nation’s capital; properties here like Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino not only make an ideal base for business and leisure but also have stringent health and hygiene protocols in place too.
