No Travel, Trade Restrictions on Sri Lanka: WHO – Creating Awareness to Overcome Casualties

A recent report in the leading Sri Lankan news provider the Daily News revealed that the World Health Organization (WHO) does not recommend any travel or trade bans on Sri Lanka based on its Disease Outbreak News featured on the official website’s Emergencies Preparedness, Response section. According to the article, preliminary laboratory reports have discovered the dengue virus stereotype 2 (DENV-2) as the common strain in the recent outbreak. According to the statistics on the website, the dengue outbreak is 4.3 times higher than the average number of reported cases during 2010 and 2016.
