Authorities have confirmed that all major access routes into Nuwara Eliya are now open, marking a significant step in the district’s ongoing recovery. Following the severe impact of Cyclone Ditwah, transport and supply operations are functioning again, with officials noting that essential services are steadily stabilising across the area.
While the disaster resulted in the tragic loss of life and several residents are still unaccounted for, relief operations continue to support more than 21,000 people currently staying in safe centres throughout the district. Local administrators say that restoring road connectivity will accelerate both aid delivery and community rebuilding efforts.
As Nuwara Eliya begins to regain its rhythm, businesses and hotels such as Araliya Green Hills may help revitalise the local tourism sector. The district, known for some of the best places to visit in Nuwara Eliya, is gradually preparing to welcome visitors once again with confidence and optimism.
