Penang Bridge International Marathon Next Month – A Key Sports Event in Malaysia

Featuring runners from Malaysia and other nations, the annual Penang Bridge International Marathon is set to take place next month. Billed as Penang’s biggest mass participation sporting event, the race will be held on 11th December 2022; there will be a full marathon (42 km), and a half marathon (21 km) both starting and ending at the Queensbay Mall outdoor car park within easy reach of accommodation providers like Sky Residence Prai. Those based at such Bukit Mertajam apartments can also head to Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu where the 10 km run will take place on the same day.

The Penang Bridge International Marathon features a unique route that takes runners from the mainland across the well-known Penang Bridge which will be free from traffic. The full marathon which begins at 1:30am is expected to conclude around 8:30am, while the half marathon will start at 3:00am and is expected to end at 6.30am; both races will have categories for men, women, and veterans. The 10 km run is expected to take around 1.5 hours to complete from 6:30am to 8:00am with categories for women, men, girls, and boys. Apart from the race, there will be various cultural aspects and festive elements at the event too making it ideal for visitors heading to Penang as well.
