The Philippines has officially confirmed its participation in the World Expo 2025, set to take place in Osaka, Japan, home to many accommodations such as the Travelodge Honmachi Osaka. According to the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Philippine pavilion will be themed “Nature, Culture, and Community, Woven Together for a Better Future.” This theme highlights the country’s rich cultural heritage, particularly through the concept of ‘Woven,’ symbolized by 212 handwoven textiles representing the diverse traditions of Philippine communities. DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco emphasized that the pavilion will celebrate the nation’s interconnectedness and diversity.
In collaboration with local governments, the private sector, and various communities, the DOT and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) aim to ensure that the pavilion reflects the creativity and cultural diversity of the Philippines. TPB Chief Operating Officer Margarita Nograles stated that community-based tourism remains a priority, not only to provide unique experiences for travelers but also to empower local communities. The pavilion is expected to attract tourists and investments, contributing to the country’s economic growth. Visitors to the country for the expo will find many hotels in Osaka, Japan to stay in.
