Phuket to Benefit from Phang Nga Airport – Sky’s the Limit

As the latest addition to Phuket’s tourism development initiatives a new airport in Phang Nga is set to make an entrance into the fray soon. The large number of tourists heading to the popular beach getaway destination is a nearly 12 million annually although the current airport’s capacity up to date has been a meagre 6.5 million tourists making the advent of a new airport in Phang Nga welcome news to travellers and the local tourism industry alike. Serving as an alternative for business travellers heading to the beach Mecca the new airport in Phang Nga will also benefit regular vacationers based in Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas or other Phuket beach resort establishments in the area. Due to be built in Taimuang District, a mere 40 kilometres away from the Phuket International Airport the plans for the private investment backed project was announced by Governor Pakkapong Tawiphat in June of this year.
