Phuket Brings Down the Entry Restrictions For Domestic Visitors – Tide Turns on Tourism

Phuket, which is the largest of the bustling tourist islands, finally opened its borders up to Thai locals on 1^st October 2021. This decision to open up the island was great news for the hard-hit tourism industry. The pre-requisites for locals visiting were standard and straightforward – negative PCR test results along with proof of complete vaccination against the COVID-19 virus.

This was followed by another positive development for Phuket’s tourism sector on 1^st November 2021. The border control of the entire country was relaxed for all fully vaccinated foreign tourists from 46 approved countries or territories. Under the Test & Go programme, guests can check into any of the Phuket resorts or hotels such as Avani+ Mai Khao Phuket Suites & Villas without the need to quarantine for 14 days!
