Phuket Brings Down the Entry Restrictions For Domestic Visitors – Tide Turns on Tourism

Phuket, which is the largest of the bustling tourist islands, finally opened its borders up to Thai locals on 1st October 2021. This decision to open up the island was great news for the hard-hit tourism industry. The pre-requisites for locals visiting were standard and straightforward – negative PCR test results along with proof of complete vaccination against the COVID-19 virus.

This was followed by another positive development for Phuket’s tourism sector on 1st November 2021. The border control of the entire country was relaxed for all fully vaccinated foreign tourists from 46 approved countries or territories. Under the Test & Go programme, guests can check into any of the Phuket resorts or hotels such as Avani+ Mai Khao Phuket Suites & Villas without the need to quarantine for 14 days!
