The recent success Phuket has experienced in its tourist industry has thrown it into the limelight, regarding improving its capacity in all aspects of the island. The government announced plans to build a brand new airport in Phang Nga, to share some of the load with Phuket’s airport.
Although there have been concerns raised about the overwhelming demand, Phuket’s ambitions to become a prime business hub in the region overshadow these issues. As Bill Barnett, a hotel consultant claimed, Phuket is a haven for people, away from contemporary global conflicts and other issues. Visitors enjoy stays at world-class Phuket resorts the likes of Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas and spend their time exploring every nook and cranny of the island. To balance the aforementioned issues with the amenities offered, Phuket must find a way to balance economic growth with sustainable practices to ensure its long-term success.
