Phuket Sandbox scheme started in July 2021, and it has generated positive hope among hoteliers in the region. In July. 5473 travellers came to Phuket under this special scheme, and out of this, only 10 have been tested positive for COVID 19. Pool suites in Phuket owned by properties the likes of Avani+ Mai Khao Phuket Suites & Villas were highly demanded by visitors due to their privacy factors and the fact that you could stay away from other guests at the resort which meant less exposure. These properties also made sure they were in line with all safety and health guidelines imposed.
Travel experts show that this positive trend can be further expanded if the Thai Government decides to approve the Sputnik V vaccine, facilitating Russian travellers also to join the Sandbox scheme. Russia has been one of the main markets for the Thai tourism industry since 2020. The officials also expect more visitors will head to Thailand in the 4th quarter of 2021.
