In a bid to boost tourism, especially to Victoria Falls, local stakeholders and those in the hospitality industry are discussing ways to have a regional travel framework in place. According to an online article published in October by the Chronicle, talks are underway regarding access to the Livingstone, Victoria Falls and Kasane airports from regional airlines. The falls which can be easily reached by those staying at a Livingstone hotel including properties like The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara will be key to kick-starting local tourism.
Mr. Ross Kennedy, the Chief Executive Officer of Africa Albida Tourism (AAT) was quoted saying that the resumption of air access and the reopening of borders will lead to a tourism bubble around Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls Regional Tourism Association has also been involved in coming up with initiatives to boost tourism, while it is hoped that the opening of borders will increase self-drive traffic to the falls as well.
