Por Tor Festival: A celebration of ethnic china.

The Por Tor festival is a significant Chinese festival celebrated in all Chinese shrines in the island of Phuket. Special sweets such as red turtle cakes, candles and flowers are offered to the ancestors and ghosts without relatives to release them from hell. The Por Tor Kong Shrine, situated next to the Bann Bang Neow School is regarded as the key Centre for the festival as it hosted for seven days and seven nights in the premises. Colorfully decorated and animated with exciting activities, the Ranong Road fresh market is another major location for the festival. The event this year will be held from the 22nd of August to the 19th of September.
