Promoting New York State Tourism in Australia: From One Foodie Haven to Another

The New York State Division of Tourism Delegation, in collaboration with Beyond the Big Apple and Discover Long Island, has initiated a multi-city mission to promote New York State’s tourism to Australian audiences. The mission commenced on the Gold Coast with a networking lunch engaging key partners. The delegation then hosted travel trade events in Brisbane and Sydney. In Brisbane, they teamed up with Expedia TAAP for an agent breakfast with top retail and wholesale partners.

In Sydney, they conducted sales calls with key partners and hosted another Expedia TAAP event featuring a three-course dinner at Bistro George. The coveted restaurant is a half-hour ride from the best hotels in Parramatta, including properties like PARKROYAL Parramatta. A highlight of the Sydney visit was their participation in the Good Food & Wine Show, where they hosted media and trade VIPs and partnered with Australian celebrity chef Kirsten Tibballs. Tibballs created a New York State-inspired apple pie using Crown Maple Syrup from the Hudson Valley and apples from the state’s abundant orchards.
