As reported on the official Tourism and Events Queensland website on 11th April 2021, cities in Queensland are amongst the most sought after by tourists from New Zealand. After the reopening of borders between Australia and New Zealand, travel between these nations is now a possibility. As mentioned, the most searched for destination at that time on Expedia.co.nz was the Gold Coast, with Brisbane as well as the Sunshine Coast, all in Queensland, within the top five.
To encourage Queenslanders to also explore the state, especially the capital, the $3 million Brisbane Holiday Dollars campaign was launched this April too. It featured a draw in which 30,000 travel vouchers worth $100 each were up for grabs; these could be used for selected accommodation and experiences between 6th May and 15th August 2021. The state’s capital continues to be a major draw with hotel apartments Brisbane has to offer in the CBD such as Oaks Brisbane Lexicon Suites providing safe and convenient stays.
