Quilting Group in Wadena, USA, Raise Funds for Action for Children Zambia

Members of Mary’s ACC (Area Catholic Community) Quilters in Wadena, a city in the American state of Minnesota, have been busy raising funds through a raffle to aid charity organisation, Action for Children Zambia (AFCZ). This remarkable story was featured on the Wadena Pioneer Journal website on 2nd March 2023; it went on to reveal that two special quilts were being made from the Earth Views fabric line of Astronaut, Karen Nyberg. These quilts were offered as prizes in a special raffle with the money raised sent to Action for Children Zambia (https://www.afczambia.org/). It should be noted that quilts have been made and sent before by Mary’s ACC Quilters to AFCZ due to the links with the charity’s founder, Carol McBrady.

While the raffle draw was held on 7th May 2023 at Wadena’s, St. Ann’s Parish Hall and is now over, those looking to help children in need in Zambia can get involved in other ways too. One example would be the Pack for a Purpose initiative which one can keep in mind when looking for hotels in Livingstone, Zambia. As part of this programme, guests staying at The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara can aid the property, support the Linda Community School (https://www.packforapurpose.org/destinations/africa/zambia/the-royal-livingstone-by-anantara/) which provides education to orphaned and vulnerable children in Livingstone. Interested travellers can leave some space in their luggage to bring much-needed supplies for the children here and assist in their upliftment.
