For the 8th consecutive year, the Rotaract Club of Uptown successfully held their annual 5km charity run on the 10th December 2017.
This event helps those who are suffering from cancer a fighting chance. All funds raised at Run for Their Lives was donated to the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama. The 2017 RFTL was not just a run, it was a carnival filled with exciting games, music, food, freebies, goodies and also a photobooth. Many, including those who were holidaying in hotels in Colombo, the likes of The Kingsbury Colombo took part in this great cause from 8 am to 2 pm at Racecourse Colombo.
Every month there are more than 14,000 new patients diagnosed at the Cancer Hospital and most treatments and medicine are given for free hence funds are often running thin. Run for Their Lives is the largest charity run in Sri Lanka and many including rotaractors, event participants and sponsors who supported this cause throughout the various stages of RFTL to make it what it is today.
