Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) is focusing on getting tourism back on track following a hard-hit year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was put into the spotlight in an online article on the Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper website on 13th March 2021; initiatives to uplift tourism were discussed and presented at a meeting held between the HCMC People’s Committee, Department of Tourism and related agencies and businesses.
Amongst the proposed solutions was that a strategic plan for smart tourism had to be developed, while local authorities needed to offer financial assistance to small and medium enterprises facing challenging times. With the lack of international tourists, the need to encourage domestic tourism was also highlighted. The city continues to be a key destination and travellers in search of the best hotel in Saigon, Vietnam can choose from properties like PARKROYAL Saigon which have enhanced health and hygiene protocols in place.
