The Salalah Airport, Oman became the first in the Middle East to be awarded 5 stars. It also won the “Best Regional Airport Award” ranking fourth worldwide at the Skytrax World Awards. Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosni CEO of Oman Airports together with Salim bin Awad Al Yafei deputy CEO of Salalah Airport accepted the award during the ceremony.
There is a large number of international and domestic flights passing through Salalah Airport daily and following this achievement the numbers are expected to get higher. The airport terminal can hold up to two million passengers and has a 4km long runway with the ability to handle modern aircraft. There are also restaurants and other facilities with the added benefit of the airport’s close proximity to Salalah resort in Oman such as the likes of Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara.
