Delivering a presentation during his visit to Saudi Arabia, the Maldivian Ambassador Abdullah Hameed stated that Maldives welcomed more than 55,000 tourists from the Middle East in 2016. The records reveal that 48% of these tourists are from Saudi Arabia. The official number of these arrivals stands at 21, 949 which is close to a 40% increase when compared to Saudi tourists arrivals to Maldives in the previous year.
