Semonkong Lodge, nestled in the mountains of Lesotho, has released a short film titled “Raging to Nature” that highlights their record-breaking 204-meter abseil down Maletsunyane Falls, considered the longest single-drop waterfall in Southern Africa. The abseil, a Guinness World Record, offers an adrenaline-filled experience, with breathtaking 360º views of the waterfall and gorge. The film captures local tales of the Maletsunyane River and its exhilarating descent, emphasising the raw connection with nature. Guests reach the falls via a 45-minute 4×4 drive, followed by a hike with packhorses carrying the equipment. With professional guides ensuring safety, the descent lasts 20-30 minutes. Since its inception in 2003 by lodge owners Jonathan and Armelle Halse, over 6,300 adventurers have undertaken this unique experience. Visitors can explore Lesotho’s remote beauty, where traditional transport like horses and donkeys still prevail. Many accommodations such as the Avani Lesotho Hotel & Casino, which is also one of the most preferred hotels in Lesotho Maseru, offer a luxurious retreat after such thrilling adventures in the country.
