Last December, National Geographic launched its documentary special titled “Emirates From Above” which featured unique aerial views of key UAE sites and landmarks including Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. It’s home to the Arabian Wildlife Park and has been instrumental in the conservation efforts of wildlife like the Arabian Oryx; there are also accommodation options here such as Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara where one can enjoy encounters with free-roaming animals.
The documentary, voiced by famed British actor, Jeremy Irons, featured mostly drone footage and highlighted some of the best places for sightseeing; Abu Dhabi attractions like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Al Ain Oasis and Qasr Al Hosn were also shown along with the Dubai Frame, Expo 2020 Dubai and the Mleiha Archaeological Centre in Sharjah. It was first released on 1st December 2021 at Expo 2020 Dubai before being broadcast on 2nd December 2021 on National Geographic and National Geographic Abu Dhabi; this coincided with the 50th National Day of the UAE.
