Sri Lanka Added to Britain’s Travel Corridor List

A positive sign for the local tourism industry in Sri Lanka, the South Asian nation was added to Britain’s travel corridor list in November 2020. What this means is, British tourists who visit the country and return to England, Northern Ireland or Whales will not have to spend a period in self-isolation. This will come as a boost for Sri Lanka which is hopeful of slowly opening its borders to tourists; on 26th December it already welcomed its first limited batch of tourists and is expected to continue this month as well.

It has put strict health guidelines and stringent protocols in place to ensure the safety of travellers and was even given the World Travel and Tourism Council’s, “Safe Travel” stamp. Be it sun-kissed beaches that can be enjoyed at hotels Kalutara has to offer such as Mermaid Hotel & Club, archaeological wonders or mountain getaways, the island has much to draw tourists as well.
