The East Coast of Sri Lanka is of undeniable beauty and has some of the most unspoilt beaches that the island has to offer. National Geographic featured Sri Lanka’s East Coast in 7th place on their list of 14 destinations to travel to during spring 2018.

The area was recognised for offering a bounty of experiences, from natural to historical. Canoe tours within Pottuvil Lagoon were mentioned in particular as being a remarkable adventure, in addition to Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Any of these experiences can easily be procured through tour operators in Sri Lanka, and there are plenty to choose from, such as Aitken Spence Travels.

The ancient and world-renowned Koneswaram Temple was also highlighted, which is no surprise since it is thousands of years old and one of the most significant Hindu temples in the world.
