On 1st October 2021, Sri Lanka updated its entry requirements for tourists making it easier for them to travel to this popular holiday destination. As per the new guidelines, fully vaccinated travellers can look forward to quarantine-free entry and do not have to submit to a COVID-19 PCR test after landing; instead, they must show a negative result of such a test taken within 72 hours of their departure to Sri Lanka.
The regulations applied not only to returning Sri Lankans but foreign tourists from all countries as well and it’s hoped that this will help to boost visitor numbers. Stringent health protocols are also in place including for accommodation at ‘Safe and Secure’ certified properties like The Fortress Resort & Spa; ideal for tourists looking to enjoy the island’s famed south coast, such Galle hotels have implemented enhanced cleanliness, disinfection and sanitisation measures to ensure guests enjoy safe and worry-free stays.
