Sri Lanka extends visa-free entry for visitors – Bolstering tourism in 2024

In an effort to boost tourist arrivals and facilitate travel, the Sri Lankan government announced an extension of visa-free entry for visitors from India and select countries until May 31st, 2024. This decision, approved by the Cabinet, allows nationals from India, Russia, China, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand to enter Sri Lanka without a visa for a 30-day visit.

Initially introduced as a pilot project in October, this initiative aims to revitalize Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Visitors from the specified countries need to apply for a visa through the official website before their arrival. The free visa, valid for 30 days, is designed to promote seamless travel and exploration within the picturesque island nation. This means that a romantic getaway in Sri Lanka is more accessible now with fantastic hotels like Avani Kalutara Resort available for an unforgettable stay.
