Sri Lanka in April – The shoulder-season

April is a very special month for Sri Lanka as they celebrate the local festival called Sinhala and Tamil New Year. However, this is also considered to be the shoulder season where you will not find many tourists at a beach hotel in Sri Lanka. Therefore, it is the perfect time for those who want to explore the local culture and for those travelling on a budget.

When it comes to weather in this month, the northeast monsoon has come to an end and the southwest monsoon has not yet begun. Therefore, the weather is best at this time. It is easier to explore the Cultural Triangle at this time as the air is less humid. It is also a great month for a beach vacation at hotels like KK Beach located in the famous city of Galle.
