Sri Lanka has ushered in a new era of travel convenience with the launch of its eVisa system, replacing the previous Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) process. Implemented on 17th April 2024, this initiative aims to simplify the application process for international travellers seeking to visit Sri Lanka for tourism, business ventures, or transits.
The Sri Lanka eVisa is an online authorisation obtained before arrival, granting entry for various purposes. This system replaces the ETA and introduces updated visa requirements, fees, and validity periods. The specific documents needed for your eVisa application depend on the chosen visa category. Generally, a valid passport, a digital passport-size photo, and additional supporting documents are required.
The country’s allure as a tourist destination remains strong, attracting a growing number of visitors annually looking for beachside bliss, cultural experiences, nature adventures and wildlife encounters in Sri Lanka. Hotels from key hospitality brands like Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts are also part of the allure providing unforgettable stays across the island. The influx of tourists is expected to continue as the new eVisa system further streamlines the arrival process, encouraging more arrivals.
