Sri Lanka Lobbies for Inclusion in Travel Corridors

The Sri Lanka Tourism Board has stated that it is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to be included in a number of developing travel corridors. These are meant to help stranded tourists that are looking to return to their home countries as well as Sri Lankan expatriates. It has been stated that talks are ongoing – especially with the ambassador in the UK – in order to be included in these travel lists.

Originally, the Bandaranaike International Airport was scheduled to reopen on the 1st of August. The news meant that the island was prepared to re-welcome tourists and travellers once again – a move that most hotels and Sri Lanka beach resorts all across the island, such as The Eden Resort & Spa, were gearing up for. With the reopening being delayed indefinitely, Sri Lanka hopes that these travel corridors will provide a temporary reprieve for those stranded across international waters.
