The French women’s adventure trail, Raid Amazones 2023, sponsored by SriLankan Airlines, took place in Kandy, Sri Lanka. On March 23, the participants engaged in canoeing across Lake Victoria, followed by a biking and running segment from Rideegama to Delvita on March 24, covering an 18-kilometre trail.

Choosing Sri Lanka as the host country helped to establish the nation as a destination for adventure sports. Saminda Perera, SriLankan Airlines’ Head of Marketing, emphasized the positive impact such events have on the local economy by attracting international visitors to different parts of the country. The event not only offers thrilling adventures but also provides opportunities for participants to explore local culture through food, sports, and recreation. For athletes who wish to visit the island for a bit of sporty fun, places to visit in Ella offering plenty of hiking trails are in plenty, checkout Travel to Ella for more.
