A step forward in boosting travel across the island.

Sri Lanka Railways launched several new train services to enhance the country’s tourism, with the initiatives beginning in early 2025. The ‘Ella Odyssey’ train introduced an extra weekend service from Kandy to Demodara, starting on February 1. In a bid to cater to more tourists, a new route from Nanu Oya to Badulla was also launched on February 10. Furthermore, an additional train from Fort to Badulla started running on Mondays from February 10.

In a significant move, the Fort to Kankesanthurai night mail train transitioned to daily service from January 31, providing greater accessibility for tourists exploring Sri Lanka’s scenic destinations. These efforts aim to boost tourism across the island and offer easier access to popular spots, including the picturesque areas surrounding Araliya Green City, a popular and preferred luxury resort in Nuwara Eliya, making travel more seamless for visitors.
