Sri Lanka ranked top country for travel in 2019 by Lonely Planet – Sri Lanka meets one of its ambitious targets

Being a safe haven to intrepid travellers for its mind-blowing natural wonders, timeless temples, mesmeric beaches, rich and accessible wildlife, Sri Lanka has been recognized as the world’s best country to visit in 2019 by Lonely Planet. The development of better transportation systems such as Cinnamon Air which is known as one of the country’s leading air taxi services, new hotels, a growing number of activities including numerous things to do in Sri Lanka was cited as top reasons for selecting this wonderful island nation as the premier tourist destination. Being one of the most prestigious travel and tourism event in the region, the World Travel Awards 2018 brought together VIPs from across Asia and Australasia including some of the leading the figureheads in the industry. The founder and president of the World Travel Awards, Graham Cooke pointed out that it is important to note Sri Lanka’s rise in the travel and tourism industry, especially as a developing country.
