Sri Lanka Updates Its Tourist Entry Protocols – Indians Advised to Follow Revised Rules

As highlighted on The Economic Times news website on 14th January 2023, the Indian High Commission had advised Indian nationals travelling to the neighbouring nation of Sri Lanka to follow the updated pandemic-related entry protocols. Revised in January this year, Sri Lanka requires all arriving tourists to now have proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative result of a PCR test taken 72 hours before embarkation. This South Asian nation had done away with such requirements in December last year, though it revised the regulations in January 2023 considering COVID-19 cases in certain international destinations.

With tourists still being able to enjoy quarantine-free entry, Sri Lanka is still attracting visitors from around the world including India which was the country’s leading source market in 2022. Such travellers are continuing to plan holidays here to enjoy the best the island has to offer; this includes a rich history and heritage which can be experienced at Cultural Triangle destinations such as Sigiriya, Kandalama and Dambulla. Hotel options in the region such as Heritance Kandalama provide eco-friendly getaways with stringent health and sanitisations measures in place too, adding to the country’s appeal.
