As Sri Lanka tourism looks to bounce back in 2022, the government has also updated its entry requirements to ensure the safety of both tourists and its citizens. Fully vaccinated travelers can enjoy quarantine-free holidays here with no on-arrival PCR testing; however, they must show a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test performed no more than 72 hours before embarkation. These tourists can stay at ‘Safe & Secure’ certified properties like Dickwella Resort & Spa that have stringent health and sanitization protocols in place. From such a Dickwella resort, Sri Lanka’s sun-kissed south coast can be experienced once more.
The government has also introduced a mandatory COVID-19 insurance cover for international travelers. While this came into effect on 1st January 2022, it was updated in February this year; it was announced that tourists would have to purchase a 12 USD COVID-19 insurance that offers a one-month cover totaling 75,000 USD. Since guidelines are subject to change, one should always check official websites (https://www.srilanka.travel/helloagain/) for the latest updates before they travel.
