Sri Lanka Wins at Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2020

In the recently concluded Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2020, Sri Lanka was awarded a special prize for “Comeback of the Year”. The award was handed as part of the Destinations: The Holiday and Travel Show on 30th January 2020 at Olympia London. The event was co-hosted by Lyn Hughes who is the editor-in-chief and co-founder of Wanderlust Magazine.

Sri Lanka garnered such an accolade in light of the country’s encouraging performance to woo back travellers following the tragic Easter terrorist attacks in April 2019. Tourist numbers dropped drastically after April, but improved security and travel promotions have helped the country back on the road to recovery. From sunny beaches and hills with tea plantations to dining adventures at restaurants in Kalutara including those at properties such as Avani Kalutara Resort, the island continues to offer unforgettable experiences.
