A small island making a big comeback on Asia’s travel map.

Sri Lanka is reclaiming its spot as one of Asia’s most sought-after destinations, with travel specialists reporting a surge in bookings. Following years of setbacks—from the 2019 attacks to the global pandemic—the island’s tourism sector is showing strong recovery. Edelweiss will launch two weekly nonstop flights from Zurich to Colombo starting 28 October 2025, eliminating the previous Malé stopover.

Tour operators note record demand, with interest in culture-rich tours, Ayurveda retreats, and coastal escapes on the rise. Among the luxury resorts in Sri Lanka, properties such as Cinnamon Lodge Habarana are drawing attention for offering nature-filled tranquillity and authentic hospitality.

Experts predict 2025 could rival pre-crisis visitor levels, signalling confidence in the island’s sustainable tourism revival. From ancient temples to golden beaches, Sri Lanka’s renewed accessibility and charm are once again captivating global travellers.
