The influx in tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka has been seen as a direct result of the increase in arrivals from China & India according to statistics revealed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. There was an increase of 22.8% in tourist arrivals in March when compared to a year earlier with visitors from China and India both showing significant growth. In keeping with this trend, the island has also seen many new hotels and resorts being set up as well including the opening of Anantara Kalutara Resort one of the newest hotels in Kalutara. China has been seen as a huge potential market for tourism in the country and visitor numbers have been on the increase ever since the civil war within Sri Lanka came to an end. In keeping with this, Sri Lanka is also planning to implement a huge campaign in China which will promote tourism in the island.
