A natural phenomenon that attracts many spectators, the Staircase to the Moon is observed between the months of April and October. A strikingly beautiful optical illusion caused by the rising full moon reflected on the exposed mudflats due to low tide, this magnificent spectacle is commonly viewed in Broome, Western Australia. In celebration of this wonderful time of the year, the famous Staircase Markets is held at the Town Beach Reserve on Robinson Street. Those planning to visit and on the lookout for nearby Cable Beach accommodation can consider options such as Oaks Cable Beach Sanctuary. Beginning in April, the markets are held on two days every month up to October. While the market in September took place on the 7th and 8th the October edition is scheduled for the 6th and 7th. The Staircase Markets are a popular place to sample delectable Broome cuisine, listen to melodious live local music and shop in the many stalls filled with jewellery, crafts, clothing, soaps, incense, candles and so much more!
