The announcement was made by the Central Bank of Maldives in its annual report for 2016. Speaking about the development, The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) noted that it is predicted to improve in 2017 as well. The increasing number of tourist arrivals from all over the world, especially from the European continent is said to have attributed to this monumental progress. Maldives which is renowned for its pristine beaches and extraordinary marine life is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
