A vibrant annual event held on the 9th and 10th of October at Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine, Takayama Matsuri Autumn Festival ranks among Japan’s three most beautiful festivals. It is during this period that locals start all their winter preparations. Spreading much excitement throughout the region, this year’s edition of the festival is also set to kick off, promising an excellent insight to this unique culture. The main attraction will be the eleven Yatai floats which have long been deemed as significant folk cultural assets. Their intricate motifs are surely something to marvel at. Luring in hordes of visitors each year, the festival features a colorful procession leaving spectators amazed. As the dusk sets in, about a hundred Cochin lanterns are lit on the floats. The festival is one of the many attractions that guests at Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo can look forward to enjoy.
