The Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) has put forth a bold proposal to elevate ten second-tier provinces to premier tourist destinations, aiming to diversify revenue streams and propel national GDP growth to 3%. This initiative spans across diverse regions of Thailand, encompassing Chanthaburi, Sisaket, Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, and more. The plan focuses on upgrading infrastructure, enhancing public amenities, and fostering sustainable economic development to bolster local tourism markets and empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has voiced support for the initiative, establishing a task force led by Prommin Lertsuridej, the secretary-general to the prime minister, to kick off with Nakhon Phanom before expanding to the other identified provinces within the year. Concurrently, the TCC’s “FAST SMEs” initiative, in collaboration with other agencies, aims to uplift agricultural SMEs through innovation and strategic support. Travelers to Chanthaburi can expect a variety of Chanthaburi accommodation options such as Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi, enhancing their exploration of this emerging premier tourist destination.
